Can I play video slots for just pennies?
October 23rd, 2009
It would be surprising to hear that most slot players don’t know they can play for pennies all slots, including video slots and islots. There is a restriction for progressive slots but that is self-evident if you’ve played these games, as to win the progressive jackpot a minimum bet is required. What most slot players don’t know is that they can wager pennies on all other slots. But we warn that there is a cost for doing this.
Most 3-reel or traditional slots are quite straightforward and you can just raise or lower the denomination without much effect on the betting style. You simply get the payout advertized on the pay-table in the denomination you’ve selected. However, when video slots or interactive slots are concerned, the betting structures are a bit more complex. You can not only modify the denomination of the machine, you can also select up to 20 coin bets and up to 20 betting lines. This plays a big role into the odds the player may get when hitting a winning combination.
To play for just pennies on these slot machines the player must reduce the game to penny denomination, place only 1 coin bet and select only the main betting line. By doing so the player is only wagering one penny per spin. However, this is not always advised as these video and I-slots are designed to pay better if more betting lines are selected. When the player only selects one betting line the chances of getting a good winning combination in the 5 reels only through the chosen betting line are slim. So, technically yes, you can play for pennies at these games but it will be at a cost as the possibilities of generating a good bankroll are slimmer.
Not all video slots are the same so this advice should not be taken universally for every online slot game out there. We just warn the player to check carefully what his or her winning chances are when they play so low at just one betting line.
